Matt Hughes rematch vs. GSP?!?

The MMAFanhouse is reporting and interviewed Matt Hughes this past week and this is what he had to say.
MMAFanhouse Asks: If you beat Serra, how close do you think you are to a shot at the welterweight title against the winner of the Georges St. Pierre-Thiago Alves fight at UFC 100?
Matt Hughes: Well, if I beat Serra -- and I obviously think I will -- and Thiago wins I'd love to get a rematch with Thiago. I think that fight could have gone differently if my knee hadn't gone out, so I'd love to rematch Thiago. To be honest, I didn't like the way the last GSP fight went either, so I'd love to rematch GSP. But all I'm worrying about right now is Matt Serra. So where ever winning that fight puts me is fine, but I've just got Matt Serra on my mind right now.

Are you serious? I love Matt Hughes. I started watching UFC when he fought Gracie. So being such a newer, what 3 or 4 years since that fight, I have loved watching Matt Hughes and the skills he has brought to the Octagon. But Mattie, are you serious? GSP would tear you up again and Thiago would pound you down. Seriously, I really am a Matt Hughes fan, well, take out the Ultimate Fighter where he really showed how arrogant he is, and I would have to say he has been a favorite I have enjoyed watching the past three years.

I think that with him, Liddell, Couture, and others need to know when it is over. It is really disappointing and depressing to watch these favorites and see them get pounded over and over again.

Seriously, Hughes you should really focus on SERRA, because he hates you and he wants to hurt you. Take him very seriously and not lightly and PLEASE for the love of all UFC fans put on a show like you used too. Win this one and ride off into the sunset gracefully do not try your hat again with GSP or Thiago, they will annhilate you.

did you see the Hughes v Serra fight? For two guys that wanted to do Galager impersinations on each other's melon, they sure squandered their oppurtuntiy. I understand wrestlers will be wrestlers and their game is not Mike Tyson's Punchout (circa 1985), but seriously? You hate the other guy so much you won't touch gloves? you won't say anything respectful of each other? You want to harm the other guy's familiy, reputation, and legacy, heck - you wouldn't mind killing his dog. You make Ken and Tito look like teenagers on prom night. Then, finally after 2 years, you get your chance to impose your will on teh other guy and all that happens is what we saw Saturday? add some mud and body oil and you would have one heck of an erotic showtune. Nothing like 15 minutes of two dudes rolling around on the floor grinding each other ghetto style. can someone land a punch? All I can say is that when a head butt is teh best "strike" of the match - there is a problem.

I was very disappointed in that fight. I really expected (hoped for) more. And, I was rooting big time for Serra -- ever since Hughes coached on TUF I lost a great deal of respect for him. On the flip side, Serra (though not one of the sport's greatest fighters) showed me that he's a great person. That's the great thing about that show -- you get to see sides of the fighters you don't see from the blinder Octagon only view. Serra needs to stick to coaching/training others - I think that's his real strength. I hope to see him back coaching another season of TUF, but that probably won't happen unless he starts kicking ass. Hey, did you see the following announcement about the upcoming season's coaches....a Jackson return:

New York, NY, May 28, 2009 – Former UFC light heavyweight champions “Suga” Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will serve as coaches for Season 10 of “The Ultimate Fighter” premiering Wednesday, September 16 at 10:00pm, it was announced today by Dana White, UFC President. This season will showcase 16 heavyweights, the first time this weight class has been featured on “The Ultimate Fighter” since Evans himself was a cast member on Season 2.
